Happy Thanksgiving!

What if you had to think of one thing every day this month
that you were thankful for? Gratitude is something we should all practice more
frequently so this could be a noble effort. For most people, it is easy to say
we are thankful for our health and our jobs and our family and our friends so
that covers a few days of thankfulness. Maybe you are like me and it is hard to
think of something to be thankful for every day because we take so much for
granted.

One of the best things about the holidays is the spirit of giving and sharing so, today I am
thankful for people who demonstrate that spirit all year. The Little Rock community
is full of wonderful people who dedicate their time to helping others through
organizations that provide for those in our city who don’t have good health, or
a job, or family or friends. I’m thankful that there are so many opportunities
to share what I have with others. I’m thankful that little efforts and small
contributions make a difference when people work together.

At The Law Office of Thomas G. Buchanan, we contribute to
the Alzheimer’s Association Arkansas/Oklahoma Chapter. We care about the quality
of treatment that adults in residential care receive and a significant number
of these individuals suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. This disease is
challenging not only to the victim but to that person’s family as well. Personally,
my family has been impacted by the loss of loved ones to this disease and I
hope that increased awareness and research eventually lead to the discovery of
a cure. I’m glad to know that our office makes a difference by donating regularly
to this cause.

As you count your blessings this year, consider what
opportunities you have taken to help those less fortunate. If that opportunity
was made possible by the efforts of a group or organization, please share your
gratitude for that organization in a comment to this blog post. In the spirit
of the holiday, THANK YOU.
