Commentary About Freak Car Accidents –

One person was killed in a multiple car collision yesterday in Little Rock. The accident happened on I-630 around 7:00 AM and ultimately caused traffic to come to a standstill for approximately an hour. According to the Arkansas State Police, the wheel of a van traveling in the westbound lanes came off and crossed the highway into the eastbound lane causing an impact that killed the driver.

Loose tires that fly off cars and trucks often cause serious injuries or a fatality. Vehicle accidents happen all the time, however, in some cases where an innocent motorist is struck by a tire or another loose part from a vehicle, proper maintenance or inspection could have prevented the injury or death. In other cases, vehicle accidents can be caused by auto manufacturer defects like Toyota gas petal recalls, brake failures, and rollover accidents caused by defective tires.

Fatal car accidents are devastating to every family. Sadly, there are many instances where death or injury could have been avoided. Surviving family members have been able to recover damages if the incident was caused by one of the following:

  • Driver fell asleep at the wheel
  • Failure to yield by another driver
  • Drunk drivers
  • Rear end collision
  • Reckless drivers
  • Improper road construction
  • Failure to inspect work vehicles
  • Defective auto parts
