Todson Recalls Topeak Babyseat™

April 24, 2012 0 Comments

Todson Inc., along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, has reported a recall of Topeak Babyseat™ II Bicycle Carrier Seats. Todson has received two reports of incidents including near amputations that resulted in stitches and a crushed finger. A child can place his or her fingers in the opening at the grab bar’s hinge mechanism and when the parent lifts the grab bar to remove the child from the seat, the child’s fingertips can be caught in the hinge mechanism, posing a laceration and fingertip amputation hazard to the child. Anyone who has purchased a Topeak Babyseat™ II should stop using the carrier seat immediately. If you have purchased this carrier seat you can contact Todson to receive a free hinge cover retrofit kit.

Todson manufactured approximately 40,000 of the recalled carrier seats and they were sold at J&B Imports, REI, Action and Hawley, independent bicycle dealers, distributors and other retail stores nationwide and online at REI.com from January 2009 through April 2012 for between $140 and $180. The model numbers of the recalled carrier seats are TCS2100, TCS2101 and TCS2102. You can find the model numbers printed on the product packaging. If you need additional information, contact Todson directly at (800) 250-3068 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website at www.todson.com.
